Innovation through collaboration

Co-creating digital literacy and digital innovation knowledge in communities across the NWT

DigitalNWT works closely with NWT organizations and communities to learn how digital inclusion and equity can support digital literacy and innovation in diverse Northern contexts.

What the project's all about

Co-creating learning resources

DigitalNWT is guided by a Steering Committee composed of Indigenous governments and organizations. This helps ensure that DigitalNWT’s activities meet the specific desires and interests of Northern residents.

Producing and sharing knowledge

Course lessons and approaches are designed and refined using ongoing community engagement and research.

A multi-organization team

DigitalNWT involves numerous organizations that are dedicated to improving digital equity and digital literacy in the Northwest Territories.

Promoting collaboration

The project is always looking for ways to include more NWT communities and voices, so the materials produced are useful and relevant.

This resource provides an introduction to digital technology (content and connectivity), knowledge management, digital rights, project management, and broadband policy, all in the unique context of the Dinjii Zhuh (Gwich'in) peoples of the Northwest Territories.

DigitalNWT equips a team of community-based instructors with the skills to offer digital literacy training in communities across the NWT. Participants will learn how to use digital devices, browse the Internet, manage data, and stay secure online.
